Black Sand’s community in Port-Vila (Vanuatu) was suffering from a lack of access to drinking water. The villagers had dug a well which they were supporting with old barrels of gasoline. The water collected with a rope and a bucket was polluted with coliforms and streptococci and women were forced to collect firewood to boil the water before it could be consumed.

After assessing the situation, Ecotech decided to install a VillagePump system in the existing well. This equipment uses an ultrafiltration and is easy to install without tools or special tools. Robust, efficient, it requires almost no maintenance. The Black Sand installation was completed in under 1 hour.

After the installation, the inhabitants began to use the VillagePump immediately, enjoying free and easy access to unpolluted water in complete safety.
