In 2016 started the much-talked-about « seafront beautification project » with the Vanuatu Tourism Infrastructure Project (VTIP) concentrating on the rehabilitation of two public waterfront spaces: Port Vila’s seafront and the main wharf areas.
The project included the installation of public toilets near the lagoon for the convenience of all the visitors of the waterfront. However, the installation of those amenities in such an ecologically sensitive area meant ensuring that sewage water would be appropriately treated to avoid pollution.
This is why the collectivity decided to trust Ecotech with the design, supply and installation of three high performance treatment plants.
